CONNECT Yoga + Live Music is designed to invite participants to slow down, breathe, let go, play and give space for self discovery. This practice involves meditation, breathing exercises and movement all accompanied by live music. In this class we will be using a Leslie, rotating speaker cabinet from the 1950s along with a looping pedal and keyboard to create some rich, ethereal sound baths to help guide you from the outside in.
We will be outside. Please come prepared with a variety of layers so you can be warm or cool enough!
All levels are welcome, no previous yoga experience necessary.
Bring your own yoga mat, pillow, blanket and any other props you enjoy using.
Dana Rivkin's yoga journey began in 2005 when she walked out of her first yoga class feeling like she was floating on clouds. This feeling drove her to study different types of yoga practices and philosophies, and, eventually, drew her to begin teaching in 2011. She has now completed over 500-hours of training in a variety of styles. In her classes, Dana offers breath focused, fluid movement with alignment cues that explore anatomy, personal development and playful discovery of the self. She believes that yoga is a lifelong study on and off the mat; one that can be practiced in a studio, at home, in the classroom, on an adventure, at work…all the time.
Off of the mat, Dana loves to surf, dance, cook, forage for mushrooms, see live music and snort when she laughs.
Matt Mitchell Music Company is an original Americana project hailing from the Pacific Northwest. Centered around the old-soul, observational storytelling of Mitchell, who lives full time out of an imported Japanese bus, MMMC brings Mitchell’s tunes to life in solo, acoustic duo/trio and full on, electrified band configurations. Mitchell's songs are equal parts clever, quick-witted and heartbreakingly confessional, (oftentimes all at once) translating well both in attentive listening rooms and rowdy rock halls. If ‘The Band’ took a road trip to Laurel Canyon and pulled their tour bus over to pick up John Prine hitching his way down the pacific coastline, their rolling jam sessions might sound a little like Matt Mitchell Music Co.
